In 1997, the project developer, Cherating Development Sdn Bhd of Jalan Raja Uda Commercial have signed compensation agreements with a group of squatters to tear down their homes in return to be compensated with a unit of flat with a built up area of 800 square feet.
The current developer, Woolley Development Sdn Bhd, have inherited the project from Cherating in the year 2000 in the form of a private arrangement. Woolley have successfully completed a major portion of their commercial buildings with roaring success, but failed to demonstrate their duty as a party to the compensation agreement.
The squatters currently are living in the long houses provided by the developer since 1997 and it is visible to note that there houses are in bad condition. CJ Jimmy Leow has the story.
